Shery Alexander Heinis
Like hibiscus drenched in rain, my heart blooms
Shery Alexander Heinis is an emerging poet in the poetry community in Ottawa, Canada. She was born and raised on the island of St. Lucia, and currently lives and works in Ottawa. While she wrote as a young girl, she only took up writing again in 2013. Her goal is to connect with the human spirit and experiences through writing. She self-published and launched her first chapbook, A Greater Whole in 2014, as well as her debut poetry collection, Splinter, in 2017. Shery enjoys community building and creative collaboration. She has previously organized her own poetry readings and poetry launches in Ottawa, in collaboration with fellow artistes including musicians and singers.
