three radiators in my apartment
some in a series, bled
in November for old warmth
heat rattle from lower floors
none above
the ceiling one thing, absolute
no where for heat to rise to
only slight cracks in window panes
cold air working in
floor boards burnt and warped
where fronts contact
some bits of plants fallen
from the windowsill
gathering at the roots
and dirt again
unexpectedly
the city smells of grass
vulnerable where it was hard
the canal breaking up
water, in one way
moving across water, in an other
each April
ragged, but lived in and brighter
learning movement again
collisions do occur
